How to Book an Azure Certification Exam in Australia

Complete guide to booking a Microsoft Azure certification exam in Australia. Pearson VUE registration, ID requirements, test centre locations, and online proctoring tips.

Booking a Microsoft Azure certification exam in Australia is straightforward once you understand the process. Whether you are aiming for AZ-900 Azure Fundamentals or an associate-level certification like AZ-104, the booking workflow follows the same steps through Pearson VUE.

This guide covers everything Australian candidates need, from creating your Microsoft Learn profile to choosing between a test centre visit and online proctoring from home.

Creating Your Microsoft Learn Account

Before you can schedule any Azure exam, you need a Microsoft Learn profile. This is your centralised hub for certifications, learning paths, and exam history.

  • Visit learn.microsoft.com and sign in with your Microsoft account (or create one)
  • Complete your profile with your legal name exactly as it appears on your government-issued ID
  • Navigate to Certifications and select the exam you wish to take
  • Click Schedule exam, which redirects you to Pearson VUE

Tip: The name on your Microsoft Learn profile must match your photo ID exactly. Mismatches can result in being turned away at the test centre.

Scheduling Through Pearson VUE

Pearson VUE is the exclusive exam delivery partner for Microsoft. Once redirected from Microsoft Learn, you will confirm your exam selection, choose between test centre or online proctored delivery, select your preferred date and location, review policies, and complete payment.

Appointments are typically available within one to two weeks, though popular centres in Sydney and Melbourne may book out faster. Consider Brisbane test centres or online proctoring for more flexibility.

Test Centre vs Online Proctoring

Australian candidates can choose either delivery method. Test centres offer a professional, distraction-free environment with staff support and no internet worries. Online proctoring via OnVUE lets you take the exam from home 24/7, but requires a quiet private room and stable internet.

Warning: Your desk must be completely clear for online proctoring, and no one else may enter the room during the exam. See our Pearson VUE system test guide to prepare.

Australian ID Requirements

For test centre exams you need two forms of identification. Primary ID must include a photo and signature: Australian passport, driver licence, or proof of age card. Secondary ID: credit/debit card, Medicare card, or student ID. For online exams, only one government-issued photo ID is required.

Azure Exam Costs in AUD

Azure exam pricing varies by level. Fundamentals exams (AZ-900, AI-900, DP-900) cost approximately AUD $130-150. Associate and Expert exams cost approximately AUD $270-300. Microsoft occasionally offers free fundamentals vouchers through Microsoft Virtual Training Days.

Booking and Exam Day Tips

Pre-Booking Checklist

  • Verify your Microsoft Learn profile name matches your ID
  • Run the Pearson VUE system test if choosing online proctoring
  • Check for Microsoft Virtual Training Day vouchers before paying
  • Book at least one week in advance for test centre appointments
