350-901 AUTOCOR Training vs Self-Study: Do You Need a Course? (2026)

No course is required for the 350-901 AUTOCOR. Here is what the training on the market costs, what it gives you, and when self-study is the smarter spend.

350-901 AUTOCOR training vs self-study - price line of every course option
350-901 is now AUTOCOR, not DEVCOROn 3 February 2026 Cisco retitled exam 350-901 as AUTOCOR, Designing, Deploying and Managing Network Automation Systems v2.0, the core exam for CCNP and CCIE Automation, which replaced DevNet Professional and Expert. The blueprint was rebuilt into four domains, including a new AI in Automation domain, and Cisco's official course is now AUTOCOR v2.0. Courses and books still titled DEVCOR teach a different outline.
SHORT ANSWER

Most AUTOCOR candidates should self-study or buy a cheap video course: the tools are free, and the exam rewards building automation, not attending class. Pay for Cisco's course if your employer or CLCs cover it, or if you want guided labs on the new AI in Automation domain, where third-party material is thinnest. The $900 Cisco U. path is the value pick for those labs. Do not pay for anything still titled DEVCOR.

Exam 350-901 AUTOCOR is the core exam for CCNP Automation and CCIE Automation, the track Cisco called DevNet until February 2026, and a pass on its own earns the Cisco Certified Automation Specialist - Core. It runs 120 minutes, costs $400, and the v2.0 outline is about building things: automation with Ansible, Terraform, RESTCONF and Python, GitLab CI/CD pipelines tested in CML with pyATS, and LLM agents fed by an MCP server.

Because the blueprint was rebuilt, the training market is young. Cisco's AUTOCOR v2.0 course (about $4,400 instructor-led, or $900 on Cisco U.) and CBT Nuggets' March 2026 course target v2.0 directly, and INE has an AUTOCOR path. There is no current Cisco Press cert guide, and DEVCOR-era material teaches a different exam. The upside is that almost every tool in the outline is free to lab.

Is a course required for the 350-901 AUTOCOR?

Cisco requires no course for 350-901. You book through Pearson VUE, pay $400 or redeem Cisco Learning Credits, and sit the exam. Cisco lists no formal prerequisites for CCNP or CCIE Automation, and the course's recommended background, such as Python, REST APIs and CCNA Automation-level knowledge, is advice rather than a gate. Nobody checks your coding experience; the exam simply assumes it.

Cheapest credible way to prepare:Work through the free v2.0 topics with Cisco U.'s free DEVNAE path, then build every outline task yourself in CML-Free, a GitLab CE and Docker VM and the free DevNet Sandbox, using the Ansible, Terraform, pyATS and FastMCP docs. The cash cost is close to zero before the $400 exam fee.

Three ways to prepare

Costs below are training only. The exam fee ($400) is the same whichever route you take.

OFFICIALCisco AUTOCOR v2.0 course (Learning Partners)
$4,400 or 44 CLCs5 days + 4-6 weeks review

Five instructor-led days on Cisco's AUTOCOR v2.0 courseware: Python, Ansible, Terraform and RESTCONF automation, Git and GitLab CI/CD pipelines tested in CML with pyATS, telemetry, logging and secure coding, and building LLM-powered agents that use MCP servers. Labs run in Cisco's hosted environment and the course earns 32 CE credits. Cisco U. sells the same content self-paced for $900.

Best for:Network engineers moving into automation whose employer pays, and anyone who wants Cisco's own labs for the new AI domain

Watch out:Five days of coding labs is fast if Python and Git are new to you. Partner prices vary; compare them in Cisco's Learning Locator.

GUIDED COURSECBT Nuggets AUTOCOR v2.0 video course
$59/mo (~3 mo)8-12 weeks

About 23 hours of study built around John McGovern's videos, updated in March 2026 for v2.0, with virtual labs, quizzes and N2K practice exams in the same subscription. It covers NetDevOps tooling, Git-based infrastructure as code, APIs, telemetry and pyATS, and an introduction to AI and LLMs for network engineers, at a small fraction of the class price.

Best for:Engineers who want a v2.0-specific walkthrough with built-in labs and do not need a live instructor

Watch out:Check its AI coverage against outline items 4.3-4.5 on MCP servers and agents. The plan renews monthly ($599 a year) until you cancel.

SELF-STUDYFree outline, DEVNAE, sandboxes and docs
~$03-4 months

The free v2.0 topics PDF as your build list, Cisco U.'s free DEVNAE path (about 29 hours, 23 labs) for foundations, CML-Free plus a Linux VM running GitLab CE and Docker for pipelines, the DevNet Sandbox for IOS XE and other Cisco targets, and the Ansible, Terraform, pyATS and FastMCP documentation for everything else.

Best for:Engineers who already script, use Git daily and are comfortable learning from documentation

Watch out:No current cert guide exists, so you assemble the syllabus yourself, and the AI in Automation domain has the least free exam-focused material.

FAQ

Is DEVCOR training still useful for 350-901?

Only in part. Since 3 February 2026 the exam is AUTOCOR v2.0, with four domains: Network Automation and Infrastructure as Code at 30% each, Operations and AI in Automation at 20%. Git, REST APIs and secure coding carry over, but DEVCOR's application-design and platform-API emphasis is gone and the AI domain is new. Check that any course or book you pay for says AUTOCOR or v2.0.

Do I need a course to take the 350-901 AUTOCOR exam?

No. Cisco sets no training requirement and lists no formal prerequisites for CCNP or CCIE Automation. You register with Pearson VUE, pay $400 or use Cisco Learning Credits, and test at a centre or online. The official AUTOCOR course is recommended preparation; nobody asks whether you took it, and many candidates pass on free material.

How much does the official AUTOCOR course cost?

Learning Partners set their own prices. Fast Lane's US list price for the five-day AUTOCOR v2.0 class is $4,400 or 44 Cisco Learning Credits. The self-paced Cisco U. learning path is $900 or 9 CLCs for 180 days, with 23 labs, and Cisco U. All Access, covering every professional-level path, is $6,000 a year. The class and the path each earn 32 CE credits.

Is there an Official Cert Guide for AUTOCOR?

We could not find one on Cisco Press in October 2026. The Cisco Certified DevNet Professional DEVCOR 350-901 Official Cert Guide from 2022 is still on sale, but it was written for the old blueprint and has nothing on the AI in Automation domain. Use the v2.0 topics PDF, a course built for v2.0 and the vendor documentation for each tool instead.

Can I practise for AUTOCOR without buying lab equipment?

Yes. CML-Free runs up to five nodes at no cost and has an API you can call from a pipeline; GitLab CE, Docker, Ansible, Terraform, pyATS and FastMCP are all free; and the DevNet Sandbox offers hosted IOS XE and other Cisco platforms. A paid CML edition helps only if you want bigger topologies or images such as Catalyst 8000v.
