AWS Exam Day: What to Expect at the Test Centre and Online

Knowing exactly what to expect on exam day reduces anxiety and helps you focus on the questions. This guide walks through the complete experience for both test centre and online proctored AWS certification exams.

Before You Leave Home

• Light review only; no cramming new material
• Eat a balanced meal (not too heavy)
• Gather your ID documents (two forms for test centre)
• Check your appointment time and location
• For online exams: clear your desk and run a final system check

At the Test Centre

1. Arrive 15-30 minutes before your appointment
2. Present two forms of ID at the reception desk
3. Have your photo taken and possibly a palm vein scan
4. Store all personal items (phone, wallet, watch) in a locker
5. Receive a whiteboard or scratch paper and marker
6. Be escorted to your assigned testing station
7. The exam launches automatically when you sit down

Online Proctored: Check-in

Log in 30 minutes before your scheduled time. Launch the OnVUE application. Take photos of your face and ID. Complete the room scan using your webcam or phone. Wait for a proctor to review and connect. See our online proctoring tips for detailed preparation.

The Exam Interface

• Questions appear one at a time
• Navigation panel shows all questions and your progress
• Flag button lets you mark questions for review
• Built-in calculator available for some exams
• Timer displayed in the corner (can be hidden)
• Strikethrough feature to eliminate answer options visually

After the Exam

After answering all questions, click End Exam. You may see a brief survey. Your pass/fail result appears on screen immediately. A detailed score report is available in your AWS Certification account within 1-2 business days.

Getting Your Results

If you passed, your Credly digital badge arrives within 1-2 days. Your certification appears in your AWS account. If you did not pass, review our retake policy guide.
