What actually exists
The Associate Google Workspace Administrator exam is 50 to 60 questions in two hours for $125, with no published passing score — like every Google certification it returns pass or fail with no number. Being a newer associate credential, its third-party shelf has barely formed, and there is a wrinkle worth knowing before you plan: the exam guide PDF lists six weighted sections while the certification web page lists six shorter titles with no weightings at all. The shape is familiar for a young Google associate exam: strong official material, no books, and a lab you have to time-box. Nothing here is missing that would stop you passing — you just have to lean on Google's own material more than usual.

Which resource covers which exam area

Mail flow is where non-mail admins lose this exam. If SPF, DKIM and DMARC are not concepts you could explain to a colleague, give that section double time regardless of what your practice scores say.
What to skip
A young exam with a thin shelf attracts filler content. Two categories waste real time.
Do not spend money on these
- Consumer Gmail and Drive tutorials. This is an admin exam. End-user feature walkthroughs cover almost none of the console surface it tests.
- Material for the older Workspace certifications. Google has revised its Workspace credentials; check that any course targets the current associate exam.
- Starting the trial tenant too early. The window is short. Burning it during your video-watching phase leaves you with no lab when you need one.
- Dumps. Google revokes certifications for them, and with no score feedback you cannot even tell how close you got.
- GCP infrastructure study. Different product, different exam. Workspace administration barely touches it.

Is there a book for the Associate Google Workspace Administrator exam?
No. The exam is too new and the market too small for a study guide, and one is unlikely to appear. Google's exam guide PDF, Skills Boost path and Admin Help Center are the replacement, and together they cover the scope properly.
What is the passing score?
Google does not publish passing scores for any of its certifications. You receive a pass or fail result with no number and no domain breakdown, which is why planning against the exam guide's weighted sections matters more here than on exams that give you a score report.
Do I need a paid Workspace tenant to practise?
No — a trial gives you a real admin console for a limited window, which is enough for the hands-on work if you time it well. Start the trial when you are ready to configure things, not at the beginning of your study block.
How long does the AGWA exam take to prepare for?
Thirty to forty-five hours for an IT generalist new to Workspace administration, and twenty to twenty-five for someone already running a tenant who mainly needs to learn exam phrasing and fill gaps in mail routing and security settings.
