REEL 04 AZ-104 · ASSOCIATE
A single antique brass server-rack key resting on aged dark walnut, lit by a warm shaft of window light — visual metaphor for the Microsoft Azure Administrator AZ-104 exam

Azure Administrator, quietly.

An AZ-104 preparation guide for working engineers who would rather practise calmly than be lectured at. Six weeks, one hour a night, no recurring fees.

01 THE OPENING LINE

A test of judgement, not memorisation.

AZ-104 asks whether you can run a real Azure subscription — identity, governance, networking, storage, virtual machines, monitoring — under time pressure. Most candidates fail because they revised endpoints instead of practising decisions. We built this app for the opposite person: the engineer who wants to make those decisions correctly under timed pressure, repeatedly, until it becomes muscle memory.

No subscription. No nags. One purchase, lifetime access, refund if you don't pass.

02 WHAT'S TESTED
Overhead still-life of a brass identification stamp pressed into wax-sealed cream paper alongside a key, brass keyring rings, and a polished magnifying glass — a metaphor for identity and access management

Four weighted domains.

Microsoft refreshed the AZ-104 blueprint in 2024. Question counts shift quarterly; weights below reflect the current allocation as of May 2026.

  • i
Manage Azure identities and governance Entra ID, RBAC, subscriptions, management groups, resource tags, cost reviews. 20–25%
  • ii
Implement and manage storage Storage accounts, blob lifecycle, file shares, replication tiers, access policies. 15–20%
  • iii
Deploy and manage Azure compute resources Virtual Machines, scale sets, containers, App Service, ARM/Bicep templates. 20–25%
  • iv
Implement and manage virtual networking VNets, subnets, NSGs, peering, VPN gateways, Azure DNS, load balancing. 15–20%
  • v
Monitor and maintain Azure resources Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, alerts, backup, site recovery, troubleshooting. 10–15%
03 INSIDE THE APP

Four tools built around real study.

Adaptive practice. Questions you get wrong reappear sooner, weighted by your per-topic accuracy.

Domain heatmap. See your weakest objective at a glance — and which sub-topic is dragging the score down.

Full mock exams. Timed, scored, calibrated to current AZ-104 pass thresholds. Pearson-grade rigour.

Explanation library. Every wrong answer comes with a written rationale and a Microsoft Learn deep-link for further reading.

04 THE DATA

06 VOICES
A vintage brass-cased oscilloscope dial with needle pointed steadily at centre, glass face catching warm reflection — metaphor for Azure Monitor and observability

Frame 05 — Monitoring, illustrated

From premium users.

A typical pattern: re-prepared with this app after a few weeks of inconsistent study, passed first sitting after using the per-domain heatmap to focus on the weakest areas.

Free tier is genuinely useful. Premium is $4.99 forever, not per month. That alone was the reason I upgraded.

07 ASKED & ANSWERED

Honest questions, honest answers.

How long does it take to pass AZ-104?

Most working professionals pass within six weeks of evening study (one hour a day, five days a week), assuming basic Azure portal familiarity. Complete beginners should plan eight to ten weeks. The app's heatmap will tell you if you're falling behind schedule.

What is the AZ-104 pass score and format?

AZ-104 uses Microsoft's standard scored question format with up to 60 questions over 120 minutes. The passing score is 700 out of 1000. The exam includes multiple choice, drag-and-drop, and case study items.

Does this cover the latest exam refresh?

Yes. Our question bank syncs quarterly with any Azure service-level updates that affect scenario answers — most recently in March 2026. The current AZ-104 blueprint hasn't changed since the 2024 refresh.

How do you compare to Microsoft Learn or Tutorials Dojo?

Both are excellent for first-pass learning. We recommend pairing — use Microsoft Learn for the underlying concepts, then use this app for the practice volume and the heatmap. Our pricing is structured to be the second purchase, not the only one.

What if I don't pass on the first try?

We refund 100% of your premium upgrade within 48 hours of receiving your failing score. No interview, no exit survey. Email the receipt screenshot and we process it.

How much does the AZ-104 exam itself cost?

$165 USD as of May 2026 (regional pricing varies). Microsoft occasionally offers half-price vouchers via Microsoft Learn Cloud Skills Challenge — worth checking before you book.

END ROLL CREDITS
A single lit oil lamp on a vast empty dark walnut desk, flame steady, casting a warm pool of amber light fading into deep shadow — quiet end-of-day frame

Begin tonight.

An hour after dinner, five days a week, for six weeks. That's the entire ask. If it doesn't work, you'll know within fourteen days from the heatmap — and you'll have your refund within forty-eight hours.
